The model of the Shevitsa is part of the album "Bulgarian Folk Embroidery", Rositsa Chukanova, edition of "Bulgarian Artist", Sofia 1957, phototypical edition from the original, Georgi V. Markov, Plovdiv 2017.
The embroidery ornament depicts a peacock with a spread tail - a symbol of abundance, fertility, wealth and wisdom. In traditional beliefs, peacock also symbolizes spring and rebirth, and in addition its feathers served to prevent magic and bad eyes.
