In 1936, 13-year-old Yordanka Doneva started
working at a factory in Slatina. With the money from her first paychecks, she
orders to sew for her a silk embroidered blouse and an embroidered dress with
an umbrella.
This cup is embellished with an embroidery from
the silk blouse. It is a shining example of an "urban" embroidery, in
years when the embroidery was a sought-after element for clothing and home
decor. And although it is in colors that are not typical of the area, it
retains the appearance of the embroidery elements - namely, the floral motif.
The sophistication of the embroidery, the combination of colors and the
craftsmanship of the workmanship are testimony of the incredible style and
sense of beauty of the Bulgarian woman.

interpretation by Yordanka Doneva's granddaughter - Mrs. Yuliana Desheva.
