The motif is called the "Two-headed Horse with a
Rider" and is most commonly found on embroideries that are called
"srabki". According to one of the most common interpretations of the
motive, the horse symbolizes spiritual awakening and growth, and the rider is
associated with the image of the mother, which means life and rebirth.
This is one of the oldest described motifs. As animals are
generally rare embroidry motives in the Shopski region, it is believed that
these motifs are extremely old and preserved in their original form from
