Plaque “The Pliska Rosette”

This plaque reproduces the Pliska Rosette, a medieval bronze artifact of great significance in Bulgarian history. It was discovered in the old Bulgarian capital Pliska during archaeological excavations led by renowned archaeologist Stancho Vaklinov, and serves as a testament to the cultural and spiritual heritage of the First Bulgarian Empire.

The rosette is a 38 mm medallion shaped like a seven-pointed star. On each ray of the front side, two Proto-Bulgarian runic symbols are engraved, and a loop in the center allowed it to be worn. On the reverse side, the IYI symbol, emblematic of the Dulo dynasty, is carved.

According to historical theories, the rosette may have been part of a horse harness, or it may symbolize the seven days of the week, the seven shining deities, and the seven known planets. It is also believed to have been used as a magical instrument for rituals and divination.
