This remarkable plaque features a motif from the Thracian Silver Treasure of Borovo, discovered in 1974 in the Sivri Tepe area, 2 km from the town of Borovo, by Traycho Velikov Stoev. The treasure represents a royal ritual silver set with gilding, consisting of five exquisite vessels – three rhytons with bull, horse, and sphinx protomes, a jug, and a cup. It is dated to the 4th century BC, with inscriptions on two of the rhytons and the jug mentioning the Thracian king Kotys (383–359 BC).

Rhytons held deep symbolic meaning – the Thracians believed they purified the ritual mixture of wine and water, making it sacred. The images on the vessels combine the visible and invisible worlds, reflecting the spiritual and cultural essence of Thracian civilization.
